Lori Loughlin has requested permission to travel to Canada in September and October to film a role for a new mystery project. Some Hallmark fans speculate that it could be for Hallmark’s “When Calls the Heart.”

She asked the court to let her travel to Canada this fall to film a mysterious role

A US judge has signed a petition allowing Lori Loughlin to travel to Canada for a new role, TMZ reported. She is now waiting for Canada to give her permission as well.

The Boston Herald reported that the petition noted:

Ms. Loughlin applied for permission to travel to Canada for work purposes in anticipation of being offered a production filming project… Acceptance of Ms. Loughlin’s offer is subject to the approval of the Court; therefore, Ms. Loughlin requests an expedited response

TMZ reported that the documents did not reveal any other details about the project or who it is intended for. Us Weekly reported that she will be filming for about a week. Interestingly, most Hallmark movies take approximately two weeks to shoot.

Us Weekly also noted that Canada has denied some convicted felons, including Chris Brown and The Game, entry into the country. However, Loughlin was allowed to travel there once before to film a Christmas special for “When Hope Calls.”

Loughlin is serving two years of probation following the college admissions scandal and also served two months in prison.

Loughlin would be filming in Canada while ‘When Calls the Heart’ is still filming

If approved, Loughlin’s trip to Canada would overlap with the filming of Season 10 of “When Calls the Heart.”

According to the Boston Herald, her petition noted, “Mrs. Loughlin anticipates traveling for about one week in mid-September or early October.

Hollywood North Buzz reported that Season 10 of “When Calls the Heart” is filming from July 25 to November 16, 2022. So Loughlin would indeed be in Canada while the show is still filming there.

While it’s possible she could be filming When Calls the Heart, she could also be filming a Christmas movie or a completely different project.

Bird & Krakow want her back, but Hallmark previously said she’s not coming back

Brian Bird, executive producer and creator of When Calls the Heart, said he would like Loughlin to return to the show. And Erin Krakow, the show’s executive producer and star, shares similar sentiments.

When Loughlin was cast in “When Hope Calls,” which Bird is also producing, he commented on Facebook: “There is nothing neutral and no reservations about my comment. I am merciful. I’m all in there.”

In another comment, he wrote: “I personally don’t want to live in a world where people are defined by their mistakes for the rest of their lives.”

In an interview with ET Canada, Krakow talked about how much she would like Loughlin to return to the show. When asked if there was a chance that Abigail could return in a future season, Krakow replied:

From your lips to God’s ears. I really, really hope so. It would make me so happy to see Abigail back in Hope Valley. And I think there’s still a lot of really beautiful stories for her character to tell. I would welcome her back with open arms. Let’s hope so.

However, Bird has acknowledged in the past that it would be difficult to bring Loughlin back to the Hallmark network. In an interview with Greenelines Charisma Podcast Network and hosted by Dr. By Steve Green Bird shared:

Personally, I would like nothing more than what is happening in Hope Valley. Whether we can do it or not is another question. There are many moving parts to this decision. There are plenty of other stakeholders besides me who would have to say yes to that. So I can’t say for sure that we will make it. I hope we can do it, but I can’t say we actually do… If anyone should come to Hope Valley, it should be Abigail. In my opinion, we are that kind of show. … I certainly hope so. That’s about all I know and all I can say at this point.

When GAC Family first announced that Loughlin was joining the “When Hope Calls” spinoff, Crown Media made it clear that Loughlin would not be returning to Hallmark. The network has not provided any updates since these statements were issued.
